2017

  • The research team Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer has been awarded three best paper awards on the HEAT Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics conference in Portoroz (Slovenia) in July 2017.
  • Antonio Toti wins the Young Professional Award in recognition of the outstanding quality of the paper "Numerical analysis of a dissymmetric transient in the pool-type facility E-SCAPE through coupled system thermal-hydraulic and CFD codes". Awarded on the occasion of the NURETH-17 International Topical Meeting, September 3-8, 2017, Xi'an, China.

2016

  • Alessandro D'Ausilio, PhD researcher in the group of Prof Bart Merci and alumnus of the Master's programme in Chemical Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II, has won the student award "Mario Maria Jacopetti 2016" in the category 'Best Master's Thesis in the field of Chemistry, Electrochemistry and Electrotechnic'. Alessandro carried out research on the optimization of the water spray induction charging method for Wet Electrostatic Scrubbers.
  • Davide Ziviani, PhD researcher in the group of Martijn van den Broek, got awarded with the 3rd place in the 23rd International Compressor Engineering Conference Student Competition during the Purdue Conferences (July 11-14th, 2016). He presented the paper "Mechanistic Model of an Oil-Flooded Single-Screw Expander"
  • The research team Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer has been awarded six best paper awards on the HEAT Transfer, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics conference in Malaga (Spain) in July 2016.

2015

  • Michel De Paepe & Arnold Janssens have been awarded with the Burnay Foundation price for the project 'Design rules and pre-standard calculations for energy storage technologies in buildings'. The award was presented by ATIC for their 75th birthday. (17/03/2015)

  • Bart Merci’s group received 2 of the 2013 FireForum Awards. The first award concerns the collaboration with Brandweer Gent for the fire tests in the high-rise buildings ‘Rabottoren’, where also ELIS-iMinds was involved.
