Sofie Verschraegen and Brecht Tomme both finalists for the Plateau Prize (AIG)

(07-05-2021) PhD candidates Sofie Verschraegen and Brecht Tomme have both reached the final of the Jozef Plateau Prize with their master thesis. The winner will be announced on 27 May.

Every year, AIG awards a valuable master thesis which can be considered as a contribution to the advancement of engineering sciences. The 2 finalists for the Jozef Plateau Prize 2021 are both PhD candidates at the Centre for Textile Science and Engineering:

  • ir. Sofie Verschraegen (Master of Science in Sustainable Materials Engineering 2020)
    Relating sol-gel synthesis to flow behaviour
    Promotors: prof. dr.. ir. Dagmar D’hooge – prof. dr. ir. Karen De Clerck
  • ir. Brecht Tomme (Master of Science in Sustainable Materials Engineering 2019)
    Experimental and numerical characterisation of the consolidation behaviour of woven fabrics for the production of composites
    Promotors: prof. dr. Karen De Clerck – prof. dr. ir. Wim Van Paepegem
