(28-10-2022)

Liese Vandewalle got awarded with the Best Paper Award at the 4th International Conference on Metals and Hydrogen presenting her work on “The role of carbon distribution in ultra-low carbon steel on the hydrogen trapping characteristics”.

Liese works as a PhD student (FWO scholarship) at the research group Sustainable Materials Science (SMS), department Materials, Textiles and Chemical Engineering under the supervision of Kim Verbeken and Tom Depover.

Her work is performed in collaboration with Milan J. Konstantinović (SCK-CEN).

Liese’s work aims at further increasing our understanding on how hydrogen can potentially degrade the mechanical properties of steel, which is a key aspect in evolving to a more sustainable society where hydrogen plays a vital role.
