Professor Guy De Tré awarded with the 40th Anniversary Medal of the PAN Systems Research Institute

(25-10-2019) The Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) awarded Professor De Tré with the award on 25 October 2019 in Warsaw, Poland.

The 40th Anniversary Medal of the Systems Research Institute Polish Academy of Sciences is awarded to a person of merit for the Institute or to a distinguished researchers active in the scientific fields dealt with by the Institute. Professor Guy De Tré meets both of these criteria. He is an outstanding computer scientist, an expert in database theory and applications, data analysis and related fields.

Professor De Tré published dozens of publications in prestigious scientific journals. He has collaborated with the researchers from the Systems Research Institute Polish Academy of Sciences for many years and the results of this collaboration are many jointly published papers, edited volumes, organized conferences and special sessions.

Professor De Tré has been a member of the Institute’s International Advisory Board for several years. He represented Ghent University in the International PhD Projects in Intelligent Computing, a project coordinated by the Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Science. This project was financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme Innovative Economy operated by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) in the framework of the International PhD Projects Programme (MPD). He greatly contributed to the success of this project by mentoring and co-supervising PhD students, as well as delivering lectures during summer school. Therefore the Charter of the Medal unanimously supported awarding Professor De Tré with the Medal.
