Prof Grunde Jomaas (University of Edinburgh) wins the SFPE John L. Bryan Award

Prof Bart Merci, Director of The International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE), is happy to announce that the Program Director at The University of Edinburgh, full partner in the IMFSE program, Prof Grunde Jomaas won the SFPE John L. Bryan Award, described on the SFPE web site as: This award is presented to an individual who exemplifies commitment and dedication to educating, training and advising fire protection engineers. The recipients are recognized for freely and unselfishly providing their expertise to other individuals in order to assist them in enhancing their education, advancing their careers, and expanding their experience and knowledge in fire protection engineering.

On Prof Jomaas states: Mentoring of students is essential for the success of the IMFSE. In 2012, we were excited when one of the founders of the programme, Robert Jönsson, received the John L. Bryan mentoring award. It is with great pride and pleasure that we can announce that Grunde Jomaas is the 2021 recipient of the same award (The John L. Bryan Award - SFPE), as it means that our mentoring now has been recognised for a decade by the leading professional organisation in our field.
