Summer School – Hot Topics on Development in the Global South

The Summer School Hot Topics on Development in the Global South brings together leading scholars and young researchers to explore today’s most pressing development challenges through an interdisciplinary lens.

Open to PhD and graduate students from all academic backgrounds, the programme encourages cross-disciplinary exchange on topics such as financial inclusion, migration, climate change, global food systems, economic history, international trade, and applied microeconomics.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Inspiring keynote lectures by internationally renowned experts
  • Interactive debates and discussions
  • Individual tutoring sessions with leading researchers
  • Methodological workshops in both quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Networking and social activities

The Summer School will take place from 14–17 September 2026 at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Ghent University in Belgium.

Participation is free for students from Belgian universities. International participants pay a registration fee of EUR 100.

The programme is designed to stimulate multidisciplinary collaboration and provide participants with valuable academic feedback, methodological insights, and policy-oriented perspectives on development research.
