The proposed activity consists of public lectures of 2 jury members (one from academia and one from industry) followed by a discussion seminar and networking session. Promoter prof. Wim De Waele will introduce the lectures session and its presenters.

The first presenter is Dr. Harry Coules from University of Bristol. He will present the latest scientific research of his group, focusing on failure and fracture mechanics, the effect of residual stresses on structural integrity and the development of approximate methods for practical integrity assessments. The second speaker is Dr. Valery Lacroix, from ENGIE-Tractebel who will provide an overview of ongoing activities in structural integrity assessments for the nuclear industry. These two lectures will provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of (joint) academic and industrial research in structural integrity.
