About the Programme

This public event explores the evolving European integration paths of Armenia and Georgia.

Geopolitical and domestic shifts over the past years have reshaped these countries’ trajectories, with the suspension of Georgia’s EU integration amid growing authoritarianism, and Armenia’s attempts to diversify its foreign policy through deeper ties with the EU.

Taking stock of this shifting context, speakers will discuss EU perceptions of Georgia and Armenia, the meaning of a European trajectory for these two states, and how this is affected by domestic and regional dynamics.

Confirmed speakers

  • Eric de Muynck, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Armenia
  • Lia Tsuladze, Associate Professor of Sociology at Tbilisi State University (Georgia)
  • Shirak Safaryan, PhD Candidate at the University of Wroclaw (Poland) and visiting researcher at Ghent University
  • Bacho Khuroshvili, PhD Candidate at the University of Wroclaw (Poland)
  • Laura Luciani, Postdoctoral Researcher at Ghent University, will moderate the discussion.
