Prof Ranjan will deliver a hour lecture on his latest research in the area of studying hydrodynamics and absorption, followed by 30 minutes of interactive Q&A.

Ample time will be dedicated to individual questions and networking to foster collaboration, providing attendees with insights into current and future directions in research in dissolution testing and modelling. Current dissolution testing methods have limited ability to predict the in vivo performance of controlled-release formulations, posing a significant challenge in pharmaceutical development.

Prof Ranjan will discuss the critical limitations of the USP apparatus and propose models that incorporate hydrodynamic parameters and mass transfer phenomena. By combining modified shaking flask techniques with dialysis membrane systems, along with modelling drug release kinetics, swelling dynamics, and polymer erosion mechanisms, this approach represents a shift toward a more mechanistic understanding of dissolution processes.
