In this talk, we will discuss complex economic and social systems from a physics perspective where network science is in the centre of the party.

The last lecture of the semester and we’re going out with a banger. Our lecturer Luis Enrique Correa da Rocha has a foot in two worlds. The faculty of economics and business administration and the department of physics and astronomy. Thursday he will bring those two worlds together in this lecture. The so-called econophysics and social physics are broad interdisciplinary fields trying to find fundamental universal laws to explain the functioning of human and animal societies. The world around us is complex but not necessarily complicated. Individual microscopic interactions generate macroscopic collective patterns that we experience in daily life. In this talk, we will discuss a little about complex economic and social systems from a physics perspective where network science is in the centre of the party.
