Prof Eulogio Castro (University of Jaén, Spain) presents his research on biomass conversion and biorefinery, with focus on by-products from olives.
Prof Eulogio Castro is Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, University of Jaén, Spain. His main research interests are conversion of biomass into added-value products.
He studies different agricultural and agro-industrial materials used as raw materials for development of the biorefinery concept, including sugarcane bagasse, rapeseed straw, brewer spent grains, sunflower stalks and all by-products from olive tree cultivation and the olive oil production process. The main products include biofuels, renewable chemicals and biomaterials.
He is co-author of 170 Indexed peer-reviewed publications, 2 Original patents, 14 Chapters of books, 200 Communications in international conferences. Prof Castro is a member of the PhD evaluation committee of José Villacís-Chiriboga (Escuela Nacional Polytechnica EPN, Quito, Ecuador), who was a VLIR-UOS PhD student at the Faculty of Bio-Science Engineering, UGent.
