Costs of childcare

Income-related daily fee

The fee to be paid for child care facilities in child care initiatives recognized by the government is defined by ministerial decree. What you pay depends on your family income, how many children you have in your care and the length of the stay per day (full days, half days).

The day care centres and the baby minders, affiliated with the official Partena Kinderopvang Baby Minders’ department, are child care initiatives that are recognized and subsidized by Kind en Gezin. They will therefore charge the family contribution defined by Kind en Gezin.

Supplements and compensation fees

In addition to the daily rate, you will also pay a standard supplement for the nappies that are used.

If your child is staying in the day care centre for less than 3 hours, but you wish to include a hot meal in the package, this will be charged at cost price as a supplement.

The UGent child care initiatives will also charge a compensation fee in case of absences without due advance notification or if your child systematically attends the day care programme less than defined in the attendance schedule.

Information on the supplements and compensation fee are included in the household regulations of the child care initiative.

The family contribution, supplements and any compensation fees will be invoiced on a monthly basis.
