Professor Katrin Hinrichs
Professor Katrin Hinrichs has pioneered research in the field of assisted reproduction techniques in horses. Through her out of the box thinking, she revolutionized the horse's laborious reproduction, whereby through natural means a maximum of one foal per year can be produced.
A revolution in the laborious reproduction of the horse
"Katrin Hinrichs has always retained the enthusiasm and wonder of a child and she has an excellent ability to observe and draw conclusions from this. 'You can observe a lot just by looking' describes perfectly how Katrin is in life".
Professor Ann Van Soom, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, is the promotor of this honorary doctorate.

Katrin Hinrichs wants to solve the puzzle of IVF in horses
Assisted reproduction in horses is puzzling scientists. For some unknown reason, the easiest and fastest way, in vitro fertilization (IVF), does not work in horses. That there is an alternative is largely due to the pioneering work of Professor Katrin Hinrich.
Honorary doctor Katrin Hinrichs:
"You don’t make progress if everyone is always trying to solve the same problems. That’s why I not only share what works, but also what doesn’t. In that way other researchers don’t waste time."
