Scope

Within the partnership between The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) and Ghent University (UGent), a call is launched for a multidisciplinary multi-day expert workshop. The aim is to strive for excellence by bringing key partners together for an intensive work period with high potential of future outcomes (papers, projects, unexplored research domains,…). The proposed project must engage at least 5 academics from both universities. The event must take place in 2023 and comprise several days.

Funding

A maximum of 25.000 euro can be applied for per application. Expenses can be travel and accommodation costs, invited speakers, venue and catering, publicity or valorisation material, …

Eligibility criteria

The proposed project must engage at least 5 academics from both universities. The event must take place in 2023 and comprise several days. Professors from UGent can submit a proposal. Proposals must be supported by a supervising professor at UC Berkeley. Priority will be given to multidisciplinary research or educational projects

• to which UC Berkeley makes a financial contribution, a demonstration of reciprocity
• with the potential for long-term collaboration between the applicants/universities
• that have a clear added value to the partnership, and overcome the individual endeavors of the researchers involved
• that involve promising junior researchers (i.e., Masters/PhD/post doc students) and senior researchers at both partners
• that are able to present a clear outline of how the budget will be spent
• that comprise a component on valorisation/dissemination/societal outreach
• that will result in concrete output
