Call for projects: Fair & Sustainable faculty
Is your faculty participating in Fair Trade and Sustainability Week at Ghent University from 23 to 27 March 2026? Do you have a crazy, amazing, good, exciting or sporty, but above all fair idea for something to organise at your own faculty? Then read the call below!
Do you consider fair trade to be an important issue and would you like to work on it together with students, staff and professors at your faculty? Then submit a proposal by midnight on 21 November and receive a budget of up to €1,500 per faculty to organise this!
The focus is on the theme of “Fair Trade and Sustainability”. This initiative is funded by Ghent University and organised by the Green Office.
What is interesting about this call is that each faculty has its own identity and will therefore have its own specific approach. The aim is to introduce students and staff to Fair Trade from a sustainability perspective, based on their own faculty environment.
For example, a debate at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine could focus on the pros and cons of partially plant-based animal feed, while at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, it could focus on the effects of a green(er) environment on adolescent development.
Events must take place between 23 and 27 March 2026.
Possible examples of events are:
- A swap event with a substantive introduction
- Kick-off of a reading club on 'The Divide: A Brief Guide to Global Inequality and Its Solutions'
- A practical workshop on boycotting and divesting from regimes that violate human rights
- An information market with student and youth organisations working on solidarity with the Global South and sustainability
- A workshop on the role you can play in social change
- Organising a fair faculty run with sponsorship going to a good cause
- A Fair Trade debate with relevant actors
- Screening of a Fair Trade documentary (Slay, The True Cost, Made in Bangladesh, etc.)
- Organising a repair café on campus in combination with a workshop on the circular economy
