Launch Alumni Chapter in South Korea

(23-08-2019) Ghent University launched a new alumni chapter in South Korea at the Ghent University Global Campus in Songdo.

In 2014 Ghent University opened the Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC) in South Korea offering three bachelor degree programs in life sciences: Environmental Technology, Food Technology and Molecular Biotechnology. A number of students already graduated at the Global Campus in Songdo and in the coming years this number will increase.

To develop our alumni network, the International Relations Office in collaboration with Ghent University Global Campus, starts with an alumni chapter in Korea. It’s very important to engage our alumni and their friends to build and strengthen relationships and networks and foster their commitment to Ghent University.

“The launch of an alumni chapter can be understood as underlining that we take our business in Songdo seriously and we are determined to continue our efforts in settling and in expanding in Korea and in the eastern sub-region of Asia at large. We strongly believe that our alumni can and will be of tremendous help in doing so.” - Rector Rik Van de Walle

The official launch took place on Friday 23rd of August at the Ghent University Global Campus in Songdo in the presence of Mr. Francis Van Parys, President & CEO GE Healthcare Korea and alumnus of Ghent University (graduated from Ghent University with a Master’s degree in Material Science and Engineering), the Rector of Ghent University, Prof. dr. Rik Van de Walle and the Acting President GUGC, Prof. Taejun Han.
