Elections (Vice-)rector: no two-thirds majority in first round of third cycle

(22-09-2017) In the resumed first round of the third cycle in the elections for a new rector and vice-rector at Ghent University no two-third majority was achieved.

The team of Karin Raeymaeckers and Patrick De Baets achieved 39.75% of the votes. The team of Rik Van de Walle and Mieke Van Herreweghe achieved 60.25% of the votes.

73% of the professorial staff (ZAP), 34% of the assistant academic staff (AAP) and 56% of the administrative and technical staff (ATP) voted. 10% of the students voted.

The voting roud that was closed today was a recurrence of the voting round that should have been closed last Tuesday 19 September; however, of that voting roud the results were not unlocked due to a technical defect.

Next week the second voting round of the third cycle takes place from Monday 25 September (8 am) until Tuesday 26 September (8 am).
