New Communications and Marketing Department

(05-04-2017) Twenty-eight enthusiastic Ghent University employees from the ‘old’ office of Communications and the External Relations Office will become part of this new department.

Emmelien Werbrouck, known to many at Ghent University due to her previous function as spokeswoman for Ghent University Hospital, will be responsible for shaping the department and developing a well-supported vision for the future of communications at Ghent University.

Rector Anne De Paepe on the new Communications and Marketing Department: “We prepared the creation of this new department well, and I am glad that we achieved this. The colleagues at the new department surely show a lot of enthousiasm to give a new, fresh feel at the communication, marketing and external relations of Ghent University. And with Emmelien Werbrouck as the new director, we have an alumna pur sang on board whose passion for communications and broad expertise in strategic communications forms the perfect foundation for developing a communications policy that is focused on the future, in which a proactive, service-oriented function is key.”

The new department’s staff has already moved from their familiar surroundings in Het Pand to the central administration building in Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat this last autumn. Their offices are on the ground floor, just behind the info desk. The coming months will reveal the hierarchical and thematic structure within the department. For the time being, the present way of working will be maintained, and changes will be communicated throughout the entire university in due time.
