Vlir-UOS: Short Training Initiatives

Short Training Initiatives (STI’s) are study programmes with a short duration (minimum 5 days and maximum 2 weeks) addressing topics that respond to specific needs of developing countries.

The main goal of a Short Training Initiative is:

  • to improve and broaden the knowledge and expertise of actors from developing countries concerning topics relevant to development
  • participation in a short intensive study programme, the content of which is relevant to development and meets the specific needs of developing countries
  • local impact : the STI aims at knowledge transfer to developing countries
  • the STI is focused on the problems in developing countries, and is based on real questions from the developing countries

Who can apply?

Interested actors from developing countries, willing to contribute to the development of their country.

What does the funding cover?

The funding covers the costs of travel and accommodation of participants. The Flemish University also receives a lump sum to cover operational costs.
