H2020 ERC Sniper-ARM foto Lieven EeckhoutLieven Eeckhout is a Professor at Ghent University, Belgium, where he is currently leading a research group with 8 PhD students and 1 postdoctoral researcher. He received his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Ghent University in 2002, and he has almost 20 years of academic experience in computer architecture research, with a specific emphasis on performance evaluation and modeling. He published more than 150 papers at premier and high-quality venues in the field. His work was awarded with two IEEE Micro Top Pick selections (2007 and 2010); the ISPASS 2013 Best Paper Award; and Best Paper Nominations at ISPASS 2012 through 2016, and PACT 2014. He served as program chair for HPCA 2015, CGO 2013 and ISPASS 2009, and general chair for ISPASS 2010. He is the current editor-in-chief of IEEE Micro (2015-2018), and associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Computers and ACM Transactions on Architecture and Code Optimization. He got awarded an ERC Starting Grant in 2010, an ERC Advanced Grant in 2017 and two ERC Proof-of-Concept Grants in 2012 and 2015.

High-Speed Architectural Simulation of ARM-based Systems — Sniper-ARM

The goal of this project is to extend the Sniper architectural simulator (see snipersim.org/), previously developed at Ghent University, towards ARM-based systems. Sniper is shown to be a fast, accurate and low-complexity architectural simulator for high-performance x86 multicore systems. Sniper is widely used in academia, as well as in industry for high-performance computing processor systems. This project will enhance Sniper to support ARM-based systems, and will explore innovation opportunities in the embedded and mobile market segments.
