Job description

At Ghent University Hospital we have started unique clinical trials with lung cancer patients evaluating a dendritic cell vaccine we have developed over the past years. This concerns the following 2 clinical trials:

Your job will be to identify potential candidate patients out of our consultations, evaluate them for possible inclusion in the trial, and guide them throughout the study treatment.

You will be assisted in this by our clinical trial assistants, under the supervision of the principal investigators (Prof. Dr. K. Vermaelen, Prof. Dr. V. Surmont)

You will oversee the planning of study interventions and evaluations.

You will follow-up the patient with regard to possible side effects.

Importantly, you will be the essential link between the clinic and our laboratory team which is responsible for processing patient samples for translational research into anti-tumor immune responses.

You will integrate and analyze the results of the clinical studies for presentation at conferences and publication in A1 journals.

Eventually you will be expected to defend a doctoral thesis.

Profile of the candidate

You have a physician (medical doctor) degree and you are 100% committed to obtain a doctorate (PhD).

You enjoy working with patients in a conscientious, empathetic manner and with integrity.

You like to work in a team and you are accurate and precise in your work.

You have a good basic knowledge and a strong interest in oncology ánd immunology.
