Job description

The worldwide energy and environmental challenges that we face nowadays, create the urgent need for highly efficient electrocatalysts. Although already numerous non-precious metal or metal-free carbon-based catalysts have demonstrated to entirely or partially replace noble metal-based electrocatalysts, the absence of a precise design and a predictable process hinders the development. The goal of this project is to obtain a new generation of well-defined covalent organic frameworks towards their use in the reduction of CO2 to CO. This innovative proposal will allow to get insights in (1) the types of active sites in the CO2 reduction using metal-free electrocatalysts and (2) the performance of the proposed metal-free catalyst in comparison to the conventional N-doped carbons.
