Job description

The selected candidate will use proteomic technologies to identify protein biomarkers for early-stage mesothelioma in blood samples of patients. The focus is not on profiling blood serum/plasma proteomes as comprehensive as possible, but rather on using proprietary technologies developed in our proteomics labs that allow to specifically isolate and identify proteins leaking from diseased solid tissues. The selected candidate will process all incoming samples, perform mass spectrometry-based analyses on the processed samples and interpret the data. This is a one-year, interdisciplinary project starting on January 1, 2020.

Profile of the candidate

Candidates should fulfill the following criteria:

- Amply demonstrated expertise on using contemporary proteomics for the discovery of biomarkers in the field of human medicine.

- Having sufficient skills in statistical analyses to mine large-scale proteomics data.

- Eager to implement and test novel proteomic technologies.

- Able to work in an interdisciplinary environment, good communicator with clinicians (among others).
