Job description

In the framework of collaboration with Robovision, we have a vacant position for a post-doctoral researcher in the research Group Artificial Intelligence and Sparse Modelling – GAIM ( of the Department Telecommunications and Information Processing (TELIN) at Ghent University. The project focuses on the processing of high-dimensional multimodal data, including hyperspectral and optical images. You will be responsible for the integration and development of novel, computationally efficient algorithms for real-time anomaly detection and phenotype classification based on multimodal data. You will also do the daily supervision of PhD and master thesis students, and will be in close contact with the industrial partner. We offer an initial employment contract of limited duration, starting in October 2019 at the earliest, depending on the availability of the successful candidate.

Profile of the candidate

Applicants should have:

  • A PhD degree in Engineering or Science with strong experience in signal/image processing and machine learning, especially in sparse coding, representation learning, including dictionary learning and/or deep learning. Experience in processing hyperspectral images is an asset. 
  • An independent and organised working style, track record indication high quality of your own work.
  • Well-developed social skills directed towards working in an interdisciplinary team, excellent interpersonal and communicative skills. 
  • Strong motivation to succeed in research, excellent presentation and scientific writing skills. 
  • Very good to excellent English language skills (verbally and written).
