Job description

A postdoctoral position is available in the Research Unit Plasma Technology (Prof Rino Morent and Prof Nathalie De Geyter). This research team focuses on the development of non-thermal plasma systems for biomaterial and biomedical applications. The project will take advantage of the latest evolutions in plasma medicine regarding infection treatment. The goal of the project is to develop a new type of plasma jet set-up for plasma medicine applications and test its performance in-vitro in collaboration with the Department of Histology (dr. Heidi Declercq) and the laboratory of pharmaceutical microbiology (prof Tom Coenye).

Profile of the candidate

  • The candidate should have obtained a PhD in Engineering sciences or Biomedical sciences
  • The candidate should have a strong publication record in peer-reviewed international journals
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
  • The candidate should be able to work independently and willing to contribute to the supervision of PhD and master students
  • The candidate has experience in the field of plasma technology
  • The candidate has previous experience in biomedical analysis and/or a strong interest in biomedical sciences
