Job description

The Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology (CMET) at Ghent University is a worldwide recognized top centre for wastewater treatment and microbial technology. The team at CMET comprises about 90 engineers and scientists, and a key aim is to train creative and resourceful engineers within a circular economy context.

We are looking for a talented engineer to work on challenging projects, including the conversion of CO2 to organic products and the treatment of wastewater, in the framework of several projects with industrial partners.

We offer you a two-year appointment, yearly renewable after positive evaluation, starting on 1 February 2018 at the earliest. Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale WM1. Profile of the candidate

- You hold a Master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other equivalent Master level degrees. If you apply for this position, you know what a loading rate, a removal efficiency and an energetic efficiency mean.

- You are interested in process development, particularly in the context of wastewater treatment and bioproduction.

- You are a hands-on engineer, with aptitude for change (as the work is very diverse).

- You are highly motivated, capable of working independently, have excellent interpersonal skills and are a good team player.

- You have good command of Dutch and English (both at least CEFR-level B2).

- Experience is valued but not essential.
