Concerning: call for job position for one PhD student (4 years)

 

 

The nephrology department of the University Hospital Ghent opens a call for a job position as PhD student in Evidence Based Medicine and Health Technology Assessment.

The job position is supported by a grant from European Renal Best Practice - ERBP, the official guideline body of the European Renal Association – European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA).

The grant consists of a four year bursary (with annual assessment of progress).

 

The PhD student will become part of the existing Methods Support Team of ERBP and the nephrology department of Ghent University Hospital, where he/she will be trained and supervised directly by Evi Nagler, vice-chair of ERBP and methodologist of its Methods Support Team.

 

The post will provide the student with the opportunity to work within an international team of nephrologists and guideline developers.  He or she will enjoy training in evidence based approaches to medical problem solving, and have ample opportunities to attend courses in epidemiology, evidence based medicine, health technology assessment, and guideline production.

The successful applicant will undertake a European clinical practice guideline project and assist in the daily management of guideline related matters of ERBP. This work is expected to result in a PhD thesis at the end of the four year term.

 

Requirements:

  • a degree in any of the following
    • Medicine
    • Biology
    • Biomedical sciences
    • Nursing management
    • Pharmaceutical sciences

 

  • fluency in written and spoken English
  • ability to work in an international team, and share common views and goals of a project
  • a creative but punctual attitude
  • an interest in knowledge gathering and guideline development processes
  • willingness to travel
  • willingness to achieve a PhD
