Biography

Education:

Juián Mejía Morales obtained his bachelor's in Physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM by its initials in Spanish). He studied ion implantation to produce planar waveguides in birefringent materials. In this project, he was awarded by the Mexican Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT) with a researcher's assistant grant. Afterward, He obtained his master's degree in Physics at the Institute of Physics UNAM (IF-UNAM). During his master's he participated in the development of a theory to understand the functional relationship between nucleotides and amino acids in the origin of life using classical irreversible thermodynamics (CIT). He obtained his degree with honors and his thesis was awarded the Juan Manuel Lozano Mejía prize granted by the IF-UNAM to the outstanding master's thesis. Next, he obtained a CONACyT scholarship to pursue his doctoral studies in an international project between France and Italy. Obtaining a doctoral degree in Physics from the Université Côte d'Azur (UCA) and simultaneously a doctoral degree in Biotechnology in Translational Medicine at the University of Genoa (UNIGE). As part of his doctoral studies, he developed the Acoustofluidic Interferometric Device (AID) for optomechanical cytometry. A patent for this device has been filed in the European Patent Office.

Research project :

Apart from doing research on optical techniques for light-triggered drug delivery, my tasks include managing the optical set-ups in the lab and supporting my colleagues with their optical experiments.
