Support for research applications

The Research Co-ordination Office of Ghent University (UGent) and the faculty want to assist their researchers when they apply for mandates and projects at the FWO and other reseach funding bodies (e.g. BOF, VLAIO, ...). They therefore organize the following information sessions for their researchers every year. This overwiew  will be updated regularly.

Support for PhD fellowship applications

UGent information session on FWO/VLAIO PhD fellowships

  • What: information session about FWO PhD fellowship fundamental research, FWO PhD fellowship strategic basic research and VLAIO Baekeland mandates
  • Target group: predoctoral candidates (Application deadline FWO: March 1, 2020 - Application deadline VLAIO: Not yet known, probably March 2020)

UGent information session on presentation/interview skills for FWO PhD fellowships

  • What: Lecture on how to deliver an FWO interview-pitch and how to tackle the Q&A round for the interview for FWO PhD fellowship fundamental research and FWO PhD fellowship strategic basic research
  • Target group: Only for predoctoral candidates selected for the interview (2nd phase FWO evaluation)
  • When: July 2020 (Date to be confirmed)

Faculty information session on FWO Senior Clinical Investigator fellowships (Only in Dutch)

  • What: information session about the FWO Senior Clinical Investigator fellowships (e.g. new FWO regulations)

UGent/HIRUZ information session on FWO TBM (Applied Biomedical Research with a Primary Social finality) projects

  • What: information session about FWO TBM research projects. Before or after the information session, there is the possibility of consulting with FWO advisors to discuss potential project proposals. Applications for consultation must be submitted by 17:00 on December 4, 2019 at the latest.
  • Target group: (candidate) supervisors - A compulsory application to Health, Innovation and Research Institute UZGent - Innovation and Valorisation Unit and/or UGent research coordination applies, depending on the participating institution(s). This obligation applies to both supervisors and partners. This will allow us to offer structured support, both in terms of administration and content. Registration can be done via email. Deadline for registration: February 25, 2020. The deadline for the project transfer (via e-service) from the supervisor to the institution of the supervisor is March 12, 2020 at 5 pm. The deadline for the submission of a TBM project application to FWO by the supervisor's institution is March 23,  2020 at 5 pm.

  • Participation in the information session and/or registration of a potential project for an intake interview must be requested via this link: Application document TBM. In this document you will be asked for information about your potential project. Fill in this information as accurately as possible. This will be forwarded to the FWO so that they can prepare their advice.
