During this Knowledge 2 Connect lunch meeting seminar, the process of publishing scientific papers in journals will be elucidated from a publisher’s perspective, aiming to support researchers with writing and publishing.

Publishing research results is an integral part of a researcher’s professional life. However, writing and getting a scientific paper published can be a very time-consuming process. This may interfere with your job, grant and tenure applications and may slow down the dissemination of your results. During this Knowledge 2 Connect lunch meeting seminar, the process of publishing scientific papers in journals will be elucidated from a publisher’s perspective, aiming to support researchers with writing and publishing.

The following questions will be answered during this Knowledge 2 Connect seminar:

  • How do I select a journal?
  • That is the submission process for a journal?
  • What happens between acceptance and publication?
  • What are the dos and don’ts for me as an author (according to the language, article structure and type)?
  • How should I deal with a revision or rejection?

During last year’s Knowledge 2 Connect seminar about this theme, an editor at Springer Nature gave an inspiring talk about his role as editor. However, during this seminar, you will receive more insight into how publishers work and how they support authors. They give assistance throughout the process of scientific publishing (e.g. copy editing, proofreading, layout design, etc.) and after publication (dissemination and discovery of their articles).
The target audience for this Knowledge 2 Connect lunch meeting is junior researchers.

Guest speaker: Joachim Flickinger of Karger Publishers. Karger Publishers is an independent medical and scientific publishing house. Karger content covers all fields of medical science, with a strong focus on basic and clinical research.

Time: 12:00-13:30 (a sandwich lunch will be offered, thanks to our sponsors)
