Ghent University ranked 19th among 'Europe's Most Innovative Universities'

(09-06-2017) Rector Anne De Paepe received the Reuters Trophy for Ghent University's prominent position in 'Reuters Top 100: Europe's Most Innovative Universities'.

In this ranking, published this year for the second time, our university rises from the 22nd to the 19th place.

'Reuters Top 100: Europe's Most Innovative Universities' is a ranking that measures the innovation potential of universities. The ranking is based on 10 objective indicators such as the number of registered patents, the number of citations (in patents) and the number of publications, including publications resulting from collaboration with industrial partners.

According to the rector, our position in this ranking once again shows that our fundamental research, applied research and technology transfer are world-class and that our university has made strong progress in recent years. In the QS World University Ranking, for example, Ghent University rises to the 125th place.

The rector emphasizes that this award is due to the efforts of all researchers and the employees of the Central Administration.
