The research group PEPPER launches a book reading and discussion club. We will meet to read and discuss in-depth text(s) addressing mutually agreed upon topics in Philosophy, Ethology, Politics and Performance.

The research group PEPPER: Philosophy, Ethology, Politics and Performance is about to launch a book reading and discussion club. We will meet to read and discuss in-depth text(s) addressing mutually agreed upon topics in Philosophy, Ethology, Politics and Performance — in all the disciplines that PEPPER stands for. Our goal is to jointly facilitate a better understanding of the contents of the politico-philosophical and ethico-political texts and to provide a forum for a meaningful engagement between thought and contemporary questions that are underlying performance studies and, indeed, our everyday lives. Needless to say, we will not be reading one text per session, but engage with a particular article, chapter or book over few sessions. The group will convene regularly, while the dynamic of meetings is to be mutually agreed upon (suggestion: 2 hours every week). The group is open but not strictly limited to faculty staff and researchers.

At our first gathering we will discuss the dynamic of reading and discussion sessions. Also, and most importantly, we will decide upon the text(s) that we will read. A few titles will be suggested to you.

I would like to propose the first meeting on 19 March at 17h. The exact location of the seminar room will be forward to you in due time.

Could you please confirm your intention to attend the first meeting by sending an email to Dr. Goran Petrovic-Lotina, the organiser of the PEPPER book reading and discussion club, at goranpet@gmail.com, and to Prof. Dr. Christel Stalpaert, the director of PEPPER, at: christel.stalpaert@ugent.be
