Cultural Analysis and the Making of Intended Mistakes

by Prof. Dr. Sruti Bala (Universiteit van Amsterdam)

The lecture will engage with some of the ideas offered by Gayatri Spivak in An Aesthetic Education in the Era of Globalization (2013): living the double bind, training for epistemological performance, affirmative sabotage, reading from below and making intended mistakes.

Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak: “Introduction”, An Aesthetic Education in the Era of Globalization (Harvard University Press, 2013), pp. 1-34.
