Content information

Starting level:

  • You have basic knowledge of Dutch: you know the basic grammar of the Dutch language and you can manage in everyday life (introducing yourself, communicating on transport, health, hobbies, …).
  • You understand the overall meaning of general texts (reading and listening). You can give information on yourself, in simple messages (spoken as well as written).
  • You want to extend your knowledge of the Dutch language and put it into practice.

Content:

  • Writing skills: the structures seen in class are practised in simple, guided assignments. At the end of the course you can write simple texts on familiar topics.
  • Reading skills: from this level onwards a lot of attention is paid to reading (simple) authentic texts. This will enable you to acquire useful reading strategies and you will also extend your practical vocabulary.
  • Speaking skills: the basic knowledge of level 1 and 2 is put into practice by means of more open assignments: discussions, communicative role plays. The situations are real and are based on daily reality.
  • Specific grammatical items: you learn constructions which are typical of a more formal register: the passive (objective messages), conditionals.

Special information: Students of Dutch for speakers of other languages 2 - 6 who did not pass and have to take the Orientation Test do so on the date mentioned in their Registration letter.
