Content information

Starting level:

  • In secondary school you studied French as a second or third language and in October you start with your university studies: translation and interpreting studies, economics, Roman languages or MTB.
  • You studied French for a number of years, but you have not often had the opportunity to actively use the language. You feel the need to revise French grammar and you hesitate in using the language.
  • You would like to follow a course which revises the most important grammatical problems and you want to learn how to communicate in French more fluently.
  • Before registering, you take the online orientation test. This test refers you to the course that matches your level best. To have a full and accurate idea of your level, the first class defines this definitely by means of an oral orientation test which may still refer you to another level.

  • Listening skills: during class sessions as well as language laboratory lessons authentic materials are used. Through an intensive ‘confrontation’ with the language, French becomes less difficult to you. At the end of the course you will be able to understand native speakers much better, even when they talk fast.
  • Speaking skills: specific conversation exercises enable you to overcome your fear of speaking in French.
  • Reading skills: only authentic materials are used in class, which enable you to get acquainted with texts similar to those used during your university studies.
  • Specific grammatical items: the use of the verb moods and tenses, the formation and the use of the personal pronouns, the use of the prepositions, …
