Content information

Starting level:

  • You have already taken a Spanish course, but you only have a basic knowledge of Spanish:
    • You speak some Spanish, but you can only make short sentences and your vocabulary is restricted to very general topics.
    • You only understand Spanish when it is spoken very slowly and clearly.
    • When you read general texts in Spanish, many words and constructions still seem unfamiliar to you.
    • When you write in Spanish, you use short and simple sentences.
  • You already use the “presente de indicativo”, but you still face difficulties in forming and using the past tenses.
  • It is required that you take the brief online test before enrolling. Please find this test linked at this page.
During the first class session your teacher will evaluate if the result of the online test may be confirmed. If you are referred to a different level at that stage you can enter that level on condition that sufficient places are still available.

  • Listening skills: by the end of this course you can understand sentences related to areas that have a direct and personal impact on you (family life, work,...)
  • Speaking skills: by the end of this course you can communicate about simple and everyday topics, using simple sentences.
  • Reading skills: by the end of this course you can read very short and simple texts. You can also find information in simple and everyday texts such as adverts, menus and timetables.
  • Writing skills: the language structures dealt with in class are practised writing short and simple texts (e.g.: what did I do last weekend? or writing a short letter in order to thank someone).
  • Specific grammatical items: los tiempos del pasado (formación y uso), el condicional.
