Lunch meeting and network event together with IPI about image processing.

This lunch meeting and network event on image processing on 18 March is cancelled due to corona precautions. A new date will be planned later.

Invitation

Image processing can increase the possibilities of image analyse drastically. We would like to update you about our expertise during this lunch meeting together with IPI.

Program:

12.00 – 12.05: Official announcement
12.05 – 12.10: Introduction to the Centre for Advanced Light Microscopy by dr. Herlinde De Keersmaecker
12.10 – 13.00: Possibilities and expertise on image processing:
- "Digital Image processing and Analysis techniques in microscopy", Jan Aelterman, PhD
- "Neural-network-based image image analysis with minimal supervision", Joris Roels, PhD
13.00 – 14.00: Lunch and network event

During this program we offer you a sandwich lunch.

What is image processing?

Image processing helps with the interpretation of the information that images contain. Today many toolboxes for image processing exist and for many applications these are sufficient. Such toolboxes are necessarily generic to keep the range of possible applications wide. However, sometimes an application needs very specific algorithms, for which the excisting toolboxes are not sufficient. IPI, the Image Processing and Interpretation Research Group, designs such algorithms as for:

  • Large data volume processing: Quasar
  • Image registration
  • Segmentation and tracking
  • Deconvolution
  • Classification (machine learning)
  • Quality assessment
  • Signal Reconstruction
  • High-level analysis (e.g. skeletonisation)
