IFIP - Independent films in progress

About

The aim of the IFIP project is to create a platform for the independent film sector which functions as a ‘virtual cooperative’ that supports the realisation of an independent production and where the producers can come into contact with wild ideas and concrete project results. The platform supports the commissioning process for each film project by means of a transparent and accessible application which allows potential end-users to participate in the project.

This leads to the creation of a ‘virtual cooperative’ whereby the various project types and genres are mapped and as far as possible focused on a particular target audience. This set-up offers the filmmaker the chance to develop an alternative network of companies (B2B) and end-users (B2C). This allows the filmmaker to pro-actively search for the necessary budgets, production funds and appropriate distribution channels in order to thereby achieve the initial artistic and content-based aims without making too many concessions. The implementation of this project is taking place via a broad consortium of cultural actors (BOL Films, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund and the Pascal Decroos Fund for Exceptional Journalism), technological partners (Datiq, Krimson, Telindus, Vodtec and VRT Medialab) and social, legal and technological research groups from the IBBT.

Duration of the project

The project runs from 01/01/2008 - 31/12/2009.
