After four years of studying at Ghent University, Arian graduated in 2022 with a master’s degree in communication sciences with an specialisation in new media and society. During his master year, he worked on the yearlong COMON challenge which focused on increasing the comprehensibility of healthcare in Ghent as the analytical lead of his team.

He was also one of the competitors in the yearly Samsung Solve for Tomorrow challenge which encourages students of various disciplines to come up with creative technological solutions in order to improve the health and well-being of communities.

Before starting his current position at imec-mict-Ugent, he also successfully completed the international fWTF summer school in Indonesia with the goal of improving sustainable practices in Bali through a reduction of food waste.

He currently works on the IMPERIO project as a predoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. dr. Lieven De Marez. His research is focused on developing an effective digital health behaviour intervention using a conversational agent (chatbot) to help smokers with their smoking cessation attempt.
