Karel Vandendriessche holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences (Ghent University) and graduated in 2018 as a Master in Communication Sciences with a specialization in New Media and Society (Ghent University).

His master’s thesis explored the impact of virtual reality on risk perception, product knowledge, purchase intention and brand attitude in the automotive sector with focus on trialability and presence.

After working at the market research agency Profacts, he joined imec-mict-UGent in May 2019. His main focus is digimeter, an annual study by imec on the adoption and use of media and technology in Flanders. To gain deeper insights in the trends spotted in digimeter, Karel collaborates with other researchers to set up additional research. Furthermore, Karel keeps an eye on the changes in media consumption, the use of (new) technology and shifting interfaces.
