Abstract

Spectrophotometry is a measurement technique which has a very long history, and basic instruments are routinely used for determining the concentration of chemicals in solution. However, the technique also has numerous other applications, and is applied for determining transmission, reflection and absorption of liquids, gases, powders, films and bulk materials in a wide range of research areas. In this presentation, the capabilities of the newly acquired instrumentation will be highlighted, and will be illustrated with applications in physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology and medical sciences.
