This lecture will discuss our recent findings with respect to elucidating molecular mechanisms of ferroptosis in liver injury and cardiomyopathy.

Dr. Fudi Wang is from the Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, China. More information on his talk: Ferroptosis is a novel form of iron-dependent cell death. However, how iron triggers ferroptosis remains unknown. It has been long recognized that iron homeostasis plays an essential role for the maintenance of human health, and disrupted iron homeostasis could lead to many diseases. This lecture will discuss our recent findings with respect to elucidating molecular mechanisms of ferroptosis in liver injury and cardiomyopathy (Hepatology 2017; PNAS 2019). The future perspectives of the iron-induced ferroptosis will also be discussed.
