On one hand adipose derived progenitor/stem cells (ASCs) are discussed as a promising candidate for various tissue engineering approaches. We tried to limit manipulation and obtain a derivative comprising therapeutic cells (Microtissue-SVF) without dissociation from their natural extracellular matrix. We used in vitro studies and an in vivo wound healing model to study whether shockwave treatment influences proliferation by altering major extracellular factors and signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation.

On the other hand we use placenta derived materials (PD) – substances (e.g. collagen) and PD structures as well as PD cells. Being involved in a > 40 year development we can demonstrate advantages and limitations, application techniques and its special use for growth factor and cell delivery as well as a gene activated matrix.

This talk should give an overview about the use of above mentioned procedures within the Austrian Cluster for Tissue Regeneration.
