Specialist Course on the Basics of RNA-seq Data Analysis in R/Bioconductor for PhD students by Charlotte Soneson, a core collaborator of Bioconductor.
Carpentries-style Bioconductor workshop designed on the essential skills and knowledge to analyze RNA-Seq data in R/Bioconductor. Free of charge and recognised by Doctoral Schools.
We will delve into key concepts, including data preprocessing, quality control, differential gene expression analysis, visualisation of results, and gene set analysis.
Participants should be familiar with R, statistical hypothesis testing and the biology of gene expression and RNA-seq.
After the workshop, learners will be able to:
- Provide an overview of the workflow to go from raw data to the read count matrix
- Import abundance quantifications into a SummarizedExperiment object & add additional gene annotations to it
- Perform exploratory analysis & quality control of the gene expression matrix
- Explain steps involved in a differential expression analysis & to implement them using DESeq2
- Explain how to find differentially expressed pathways & to implement this using clusterProfiler
