Wendy Wambacq was born on April 28, 1986 in Sint-Agatha-Berchem, Belgium. After obtaining her diploma at Sint-Jozefsinstituut (Ternat) in Latin-sciences, she started to study Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University. She became a member of the student association "VDK Centaur", and was praeses from 2008 to 2009. Wendy graduated as a veterinarian – equine track - with distinction in 2011. Afterwards, she gained almost two years of experience as a veterinarian for companion animals/horses in a veterinary practice in Zottegem. In 2013, she started a residency at the European College of Veterinary Comparative Nutrition (ECVCN) – equine/companion animal track- at the Animal Nutrition Laboratory, Ghent University. In addition, she also started training at the International College for Research on Equine Osteopathy (ICREO) in 2014. In September 2016 she passed the European ECVCN board exam in Berlin and obtained the title ‘European Specialist in Veterinary and Comparative Animal Nutrition (Dipl. ECVCN)’, and since 2018 she is also recognized as a ICREO-certified osteopath for animals. In October 2016, she started a doctoral research at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine into the influence of nutrition on immune status in companion animals, in collaboration with Tereos, Lallemand Animal Nutrition, Cavalor and Orffa. A patent application resulted from this PhD, of which Wendy is co-inventor. In addition, she became co-supervisor of the ECVCN residency program at UGent, and since 2019 she is also a member of the education and residency committee of the ECVCN college. Since April 2021, she has joined the R&D team at Versele-Laga. Wendy Wambacq is author or co-author of several scientific publications in international journals. She was also a speaker at several national and international conferences.
