Pig - transmitted Taenia spp. in Vietnam: epidemiology and risks to the human population

Nguyen Thi Thuy Man (° 21 March 1984, Nam Dinh, Vietnam) holds a veterinary degree from the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (2007) and a Master of Sciences in Tropical Animal Health, from the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), Antwerp, Belgium (2015). She has followed several short courses on veterinary diagnosis and epidemiology in Vietnam, Thailand, Sweden and Belgium. She is employed since 2008 at the Pathology & Parasitology Unit, National Centre for Veterinary Diagnosis, Department of Animal Health, Vietnam, where she conducts research and diagnosis of animal diseases with a focus on zoonoses, such as cysticercosis, trichinellosis, avian influenza, and other swine diseases. She obtained a predoctoral grant at ITM in 2008 followed by a PhD scholarship from the Belgian Directorate-General Development Cooperation (DGD) through the fourth Framework Agreement programme between ITM and DGD. She is (co-)author of three papers in peer-reviewed international journals and presented a poster presentation at an international conference.
