The Haniffa Lab is involved in the Human Developmental Cell Atlas initiative to create a comprehensive reference map of cells during development.
This lecture is part of the Interdisciplinary Medical & Health Seminars.
Guest speaker: Prof. Muzlifah Haniffa
The Human Cell Atlas (HCA) is a global initiative that aims to create a reference atlas of the human body by mapping every cell. Having a reference atlas of the healthy human body will allow us to understand what has changed in disease and how we can reverse or ameliorate these pathological processes. The Haniffa Lab is involved in the Human Developmental Cell Atlas (HDCA) initiative which aims to create a comprehensive reference map of cells during development. This will be critical to understanding normal organogenesis, the effect of mutations, environmental factors and infectious agents on human development, congenital and childhood disorders, and the cellular basis of ageing, cancer and regenerative medicine. Prof. Haniffa is one of the three coordinators of the Developmental Biological Network of the HCA.
