Dr. Lima will be discussing cutting-edge developments related to monetary economics and macroprudential policy.

The seminar will discuss Diana’s paper “Macroprudential policy in an inflationary environment”. It addresses macroprudential policy challenges in the context of rising inflationary pressures and monetary tightening within the euro area.

In a monetary union where national monetary autonomy is constrained, macroprudential tools become crucial for managing domestic financial stability. The research explores spillover effects of euro area-wide monetary tightening on small open economies, emphasizing the importance of pre-emptive, countercyclical macroprudential policies to enhance banking resilience and economic stability.

The findings underscore significant societal implications, as effective macroprudential strategies can mitigate financial vulnerabilities, sustain credit flows, and foster overall economic resilience, particularly during inflationary periods.
