Lecture by Professor Francois Quesque
Professor François Quesque is one of the leading researchers in the field of social cognition, with a focus on the mechanisms that enable humans to represent others’ mental states—including emotions, perceptions, and thoughts—and to distinguish them from one’s own.
His work bridges cognitive neuroscience, psychology, and clinical research to explore how social context, embodiment, and sensorimotor processes shape interpersonal understanding and behaviour. He investigates these mechanisms across the lifespan in both neurotypical populations and individuals with psychiatric, neurological, and neurodevelopmental conditions.
Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Université Paris Nanterre, where he conducts his research within the Laboratoire Sur Les Interactions Cognition, Action, Émotion (LICAÉ). His work contributes to rethinking the conceptual and methodological foundations of social cognition, with significant implications for theory and clinincal practice
