Dean of Education at the Ghent University campus in South Korea.

For our Songdo Global University Campus in South-Korea, we are looking for a professor of Ghent University (ZAP), with experience in leadership, by preference regarding educational management and educational policy at Ghent University to coordinate the educational processes for at least 3 years.

The new and purpose-built branch campus is located in the new city of Songdo, south of the “old” city of Incheon (the second largest city in Korea, in the immediate neighbourhood of Seoul). Songdo is a large and recent city development, dedicated to research, innovation and new technology.

Ghent University currently offers bachelor degrees in the life sciences, more in particular molecular biotechnology, food technology and environmental technology.

The Dean of Education will be responsible for the continuing success of the Ghent University programs. He/she will run the educational programs at the branch campus in close cooperation with the home institution in Belgium, will closely work together with the vice-president for academic affairs and administrative affairs and will report to the President and the Board of Directors of Ghent University.

The Dean of Education will be responsible for program supervision and coordination, program internationalisation, educational communication, supervising enrolment, admission, and preparatory programs/courses, teacher evaluation and supervision, program evaluation, education and exam regulations, educational stakeholder contacts, managing (flying) faculty, collaborating on educational finances, chairing educational boards and commissions, etc.


  • A ZAP position at Ghent University with a PhD in any field
  • Experience in management, by preference related to educational management and educational policy or as a department head at Ghent University
  • A scientific background as well as administrative and managerial experience
  • People management skills
  • High proficiency in English
